Be Creative

It was definitely a good experience to go to an Apple event. I went to the Be Creative event in Shibuya in Tokyo. It wasn’t only trying out new Apple products. It was about learning about new ways to use applications and get ready to help people on these new applications when our school buys the new software.

On of the most interesting things were iLife ’09. This is the newest software for iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand and iWeb. At this event we got to interact with the bas

ics of all the new applications. I learned that iPhoto can now put photos on Facebook just with clicking and GarageBand has a new feature on which you can learn to play the piano or guitar in your own pace. I was astounded at the fact that now you can do things like that. It feels as though you can do anything!

Not only the products were cool but also we saw demonstrations of how people can make interesting things on iMovie. A group made a movie-type thing that had different effects of colors in it. We also saw movies which people from Middle School to University made. It was really interesting.

I think it was a good thing we went. As a Student Tech Team we need to know how to use applications and help people in our classes and also outside school. It is our job to get to know the ways to use Apple products since our school in an Apple school. I hope there are more types of events like these and I hope they are as much help as the event Be Creative.

Warrior Cats

 The series Warrior Cats by Erin Hunter was a series I started reading because I borrowed one of the books from him. I was first interested in this book because I liked cats and adventure-type stories. Like Harry Potter there are lots of book to read so I soon got into reading these series. There are five series.

The series I am reading is called The New Prophecy. This has six books. They are called Midnight, Moonrise, Dawn, Starlight, Twilight and Sunset. This is the second series.

There are four clans in the forest. ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan and WindClan. These four clans show open hostility to house cats (in these books called kittypet). The four clans are rivals. All the clans follow the same traditions. Names change according to how old you are. When you are born you have the name –kit. When you are six months old and when you become an apprentice you have the name –paw. When you become a full warrior, you get a name from your leader. The leader’s name is –star. The first part of the cat’s name does not change. Clans all have kits, apprentices, warriors, elders, a medicine cat, a deputy and leader. All of the clans believe in StarClan. StarClan is a clan where cats go when they die. Only clan cats go there. All the clans have territories. ThunderClan lives in the forest, RiverClan lives beside a river, WindClan live in the moors and ShadowClan live between the pines. There is also a place called Highstones. This is a place where the cats go to talk to StarClan.

There are other cats such as house cats and rouges. These cats are unwelcome. Some cats in the clans are rouges or kittypets. Some even have kits in different clans. These cats are usually not included into the clans but the ones in the clans are an exception.

This is called The New Prophecy. This series is about six cats who are sent be Starclan to get a message from Midnight the badger. The six cats, Brambleclaw, Squirellpaw, Feathertail, Stormfur, Tawnypelt and Crowpaw, find out that the forest was about to be destroyed and they have to move the clan. The six cats travel to the sun-drown-place (the sea) and find Midnight the badger. Midnight is connected with StarClan. She gets a message that the forest that the four clans lived for so long was about to be destroyed. The cats head home through the mountains. There they meet mountain cats (The Tribe of Rushing Water) and fulfill their prophecy. Grieving, the five cats get back to the forest and deliver StarClan’s message. The four clans battle their way out of the forest and climb up the mountain. Luckily they meet The Tribe of Rushing Water and they are saved from the snow. Then they finish their journey and get to their new home. Here the four clans separate again. They get problems of their own. WindClan’s leader dies and the former deputy Mudclaw tries to kill Onewhisker to get the leadership. Mudclaw dies and Onewhisker becomes leader. Badgers attack ThunderClan and a warrior from RiverClan tries to take over all the clans. Despite all this, all four clans battle their way through their problems and settle into their new home.

As you can see, the Warrior Cats is a very interesting series. There are lots more books. These books are just as interesting as this series so I recommend these books. Look out for these books and if you have an opportunity to read them, take the chance.

Gladiator

Gladiator is a very well made movie. It shows Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix and other actor play in it. It is set in the Roman Empire and it is a fight between the Romans and a barbarian horde. After that Maximus (Russell Crowe) is almost killed but runs away to try and save his family. His family is slain and Maximus is captured and made a slave. He is sold to a gladiator keeper and Maximus is forced to fight many battles. Eventually he gets to the Great Colosseum in Rome and there he fights with the Emperor (Commodus which is Joaquin Phoenix) which is Maximus’s long time enemy. Maximus kills Commodus but he dies as well.

 

I like this movie because this is a war movie and it dates to ancient times. It also shows some history so you can learn a bit about the Romans. The part I like most is the part where the Romans fight the barbarians and win. I recommend this movie to you because it is interesting and you can see a bit about the Roman times. I don’t recommend this to people that don’t like violence and blood because there is a lot of blood in this movie.
